Jermaine’s sixth album “The Fall Off” is approaching, which means Cole season is in full effect. His new EP “Lewis Street” consists of two new singles “The Climb Back” and essentially a continuation of the beloved Simba series, “Lion King on Ice”. This isn’t the first time listeners have heard of Lewis Street, he mentions the street in his hometown of Fayetteville, NC on his sophomore album Born Sinner. on the track “Land of the Snakes” where he says “This the shit I used to roll down Lewis Street with”. With knowing that, fast forward seven years to 2020 and we’re back in Fayettnam.

The Climb Back is produced by Cole himself and he details his current relationship with Hip Hop and the daily life of where he has come from and where he is. Like the chorus says, “everything come back full circle” and with lines like “I'm sendin' a warnin', a problem with me is like the BET Hip-Hop Awards, I'm startin' to see you niggas don't want it” he lets us know that he knows he is a vet in this game and is not for play.

“Lion King on Ice” is also produced by J. Cole and co-produced by frequent Da Baby collaborator, Jetsonmade, and T-Minus, who also produced J. Cole’s “Middle Child”. The song is special for day one Cole fans as Grown Simba returns. Not sure if these are promotional singles or album singles, nonetheless they are dope and perfect songs to lead us to his new LP, The Fall Off.
